Retired Cop Accused Of Shooting Roommate, State Police Take Over The Homicide Investigation
The identities of the suspected shooter and the victim, both of Beacon, have now been released by New York State Police.

BEACON, NY — A retired police officer made a shocking phone call last night that eventually led to his arrest in connection to a homicide investigation.
New York State Police say that on Monday, at 9:02 p.m., City of Beacon police officers responded to a home on Rombout Avenue, after receiving a 911 call from 52-year-old Edison Irizarry, of Beacon, who said that he shot his roommate.
Once on the scene, officers found 58-year-old Casey Cuddy, of Beacon, dead inside the home from an apparent gunshot wound.

After an investigation, Irizarry, a retired City of Beacon police officer, was arrested and charged with felony second-degree murder, felony second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and felony criminal possession of a firearm.
He was arraigned in the City of Beacon Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday.
