Return To Scene Of The Crime Results In Second Arrest For Accused Drugstore Cowboy: Police

BEEKMAN, NY — A return to the scene of an earlier burglary resulted in the rearrest of a Dutchess County man, according to the sheriff.

The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office reports the arrest of 38-year-old Ryan T. Gabriel, of Beekman, in connection with a recent commercial burglary and violation of a court order in the Town of Beekman.

At 3:40 p.m., on Nov. 22, deputies were dispatched to the Total Care Pharmacy, for a report of a burglary in progress with an alarm sounding. Officers arriving on the scene discovered that someone had forcibly entered the building before stealing items and fleeing the scene.

While investigating, deputies located Gabriel on foot close to the scene, and he was taken into custody in connection with the burglary.

Gabriel is accused of causing significant damage to the building and stealing medication during the burglary.

He was charged with felony burglary, felony grand larceny, felony criminal mischief and possession of burglar's tools. He was arraigned before the Town of Beekman Court and released to the supervision of probation, with a court order to stay at least 500 feet from the pharmacy.

However, a short time later, deputies on routine patrol reported spotting Gabriel standing in front of the pharmacy, in violation of the court order.

Gabriel was again taken into custody, and additionally charged with criminal contempt.

After being processed, he was taken back to the Town of Beekman Court for arraignment and released on an appearance ticket, according to police.
