Ryan Declares State Of Emergency In Ulster Because Of Storm Damage
The county also activated a cooling center in the city of Kingston.

ULSTER COUNTY, NY — A weather-related state of emergency was declared in Ulster County by Executive Pat Ryan Thursday.
He also urged all residents to avoid any unnecessary travel particularly in the the hardest hit areas: the city of Kingston, Hurley, Marbletown, Esopus and the town of Ulster.
Ryan said emergency service reported blocked roadway and more than 10,000 households currently without power.

The county's Emergency Operation's Center was activated Wednesday night during the storm and will continue to monitor the situation, assess storm damage and manage incident response.

Central Hudson has about 150 crew members working to restore service with another 60 mutual aid crews arriving around noon.
The county is also activating the cooling center in the city of Kingston. It is located at 2nda Iglesia La Mision Church, 80 Elmendorf St. in Kingston.
The state of emergency means that vehicular traffic on the county road system, particularly in the city of Kingston, Hurley, Marbletown, Esopus and the town of Ulster is limited to essential service and emergency vehicles. The executive order took effect at 8 a.m. Thursday and will remain in effect until 8 a.m. Friday.
