'Shot Spotter' Alert Leads To 15-Year-Old With Gun: Police
Police say a group ran into a City of Newburgh home when they arrived at the location where the gun had been fired.

CITY OF NEWBURGH, NY — A high-tech tool against gun violence helped take a gun off the the streets and led to the arrest of a teenager.
On Monday, around 6:47 p.m., City of Newburgh police responded to a Shot Spotter activation on Lander Street.
At the scene, City of Newburgh investigators said that several suspects fled into a Johnston Street residential building.

Police established a perimeter and found the suspects during a sweep of the home. The suspects were taken to the City of Newburgh Police Department, and a search warrant was executed at 138 Johnston Street for additional evidence.
After an investigation, a 15-year-old City of Newburgh resident was charged with felony second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and felony first-degree reckless endangerment.

The incident is being investigated by the City of Newburgh Detective Division and the Non-Fatal Shooting Task Force, which is a collaboration between the City of Newburgh Detective Division, Orange County District Attorney's Office investigators, the Orange County Sheriff's Office Investigator, and the Hudson Valley Crime Analysis Center.
