Small Plane Crashes, Catches Fire On Highway In Hudson Valley

The crash happened around 12:45 p.m. Friday in Sullivan County.

MONTICELLO, NY — A small plane caught fire after it made an emergency landing in Sullivan County Friday.

The incident happened around 12:45 p.m. on Route 42 in Monticello, which is a village in the town of Thompson.

The pilot made it out of the Cessna by himself, MidHudson News reported.

Members of the Monticello Fire Department were on scene.

According to 551ny.org, the plane was blocking traffic on Route 42 in both directions between Dingle Daisy Road and Dill Road.

Traffic is being diverted at Cantrell Road then right onto Route 102 then right onto Route 108 for reentry to Route 42.

No injuries were reported.
