State Police In Ulster Warn Of Phone Scam
The NYSP said a man is spoofing the phone number of the Kingston barracks and is claiming to be collecting unpaid taxes.
ULSTER COUNTY, NY — The New York State Police is warning the public of a phone scam going on in Ulster County.
State police in Ulster County said they’ve received calls from residents who have gotten calls from a man claiming to be a representative of the New York State Police.
Authorities said the caller is “spoofing” the Kingston barracks phone number and is claiming to be enforcing unpaid taxes and threatening arrest.

State police said its agency does not solicit money or information by phone. It will not call on behalf of the federal government or any other agency or business to collect unpaid taxes or money from unpaid bills.
