Suspect Tried To Buy $14K In Gift Cards With Counterfeit Cash: Cops

Police say the Brooklyn man targeted a Walgreens in Stony Point in August of 2022 along with three other men.

STONY POINT, NY — Police say they have caught up with one of four men sought in connection with an attempt to pass off a large amount of counterfeit currency at a local business.

Myles Rowley, of Brooklyn has been charged with possession of a forged instrument, grand larceny and conspiracy.

The 27-year-old was arrested in connection to an investigation into the use of counterfeit cash to purchase $1,440.00 worth of gift cards at a Walgreens in the Town of Stony Point on Aug. 10, 2022.

The Stony Point Detective Bureau was able to identify Rowley as one of four suspects they believe were involved in the crime.

Rowley was processed, arraigned, and released with an appearance ticket returnable March 18, at the Stony Point Justice Court.
