Tax Preparer Accused Of Embezzling $8K From His Employer: Police
There was no evidence suggesting that he defrauded his individual clients directly, according to investigators.
TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A Dutchess County man employed at a tax preparation firm is accused of embezzling from his employer.
The Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department said that 29-year-old Johnathan Yousef Sawaged, of Poughkeepsie, was arrested last week after a fraud investigation.
Police started the investigation after they received a complaint on October 17 that alleged that Sawaged, while employed as a certified tax preparer at a local company, had mishandled client payments and documents.

Detectives found that over a period of several months, Sawaged had stolen over $8,000 from his employer.
On January 21, he was arrested and charged with third degree grand larceny and 16 counts of second degree forgery. After being arraigned in the Town of Poughkeepsie Justice Court, he was released under the supervision of probation.
