Town Official Arrested For Shooting DoorDash Driver In Back: NYSP
The delivery driver had approached several homes asking for directions before arriving at the home where he was shot, according to police.

TOWN OF CHESTER, NY — A high-ranking municipal official has been arrested after shooting a lost delivery driver in the back, according to state police.
New York State Police say that the Troop F Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI), in Monroe, arrested 48-year-old John J. Reilly III, of the Town of Chester, on Saturday, after an investigation into the non-fatal shooting of a DoorDash delivery driver.
According to state police, Reilly is the current Town of Chester Highway Superintendent and a federally licensed firearms dealer.

On Friday, around 9:50 p.m., the State Police Middletown BCI was contacted about a gunshot victim at Garnet Health Medical Center.
Investigators say that the victim is a DoorDash delivery driver who had been trying to deliver food to an address in the Valerie Drive neighborhood when he became lost and unable to navigate using the app.

The driver had approached several homes asking for directions before arriving at the home of Reilly.
State police say that Reilly told the driver to get off his property, and then fired multiple shots at the driver as he tried to leave in his vehicle. The victim was struck once in the back, causing serious physical injuries.
Reilly was processed and charged with felony first-degree assault, felony second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and felony criminal possession of a firearm.
He was arraigned at the Orange County Centralized Arraignment Part and remanded to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $250,000 cash, $500,000 bond, or $750,000 partially secured bond.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 9, in the Town of Chester Court.
BCI is continuing the investigation, in collaboration with the Orange County District Attorney's Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
