Ulster Commissioner of Health, Mental Health Invites Residents to Public Forum
The forum on March 21, 6:30 pm is regarding the repeal of the Afordable Care Act and the public health impacts of its proposed replacement.

From the Office of the County Executive: “I have advised Ulster County Executive Mike Hein that the greatest potential threat to the public health of Ulster County residents is the repeal of the Affordable Care Act and its replacement by the current healthcare proposal. In response, on Monday, March 13, the County Executive issued an Executive Order that directs me and the Ulster County Department of Health to “…study, receive public input, evaluate and report on the impact of the repeal of the affordable care act and enactment of the proposed replacement on the residents of Ulster County.”
“The County Executive recognized the importance of providing a forum for the public to voice their concerns, ask questions and to relay how the Affordable Care Act has affected their lives. This public input is considered a vital component of my report. Accordingly, I want to invite all Ulster County residents to attend this important forum that is scheduled for Tuesday, March 21st at 6:30 pm in the Legislative Chambers located at the Ulster County Office Building, 244 Fair Street, 6th Floor in Kingston.
“Since the public’s input was identified as a key, required component of the report by the County Executive, a record of all comments will be made and included in the final draft. Additionally, as this is a federal issue with deep ranging local implications, representatives from the offices of United States Senator Charles Schumer, United States Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and United States Representative John Faso will be in attendance. To attend, please rsvp to exec@co.ulster.ny.us, and please use the same email address to submit written comments.”
