Hudson Valley Teacher Had Inappropriate Relationship With Student: Sheriff
Law enforcement said the teacher gave a 17-year-old student a cell phone so they could talk privately.

ELLENVILLE, NY — An Ulster County BOCES teacher was accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student.
The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office said Ronnie A. Green, 70, of Ellenville, was arrested Thursday and charged with official misconduct, a misdemeanor.
Law enforcement said detectives from the sheriff’s office started an investigation Oct. 25 after receiving information about an inappropriate relationship between a teacher and a student.

Authorities said the victim was identified as a 17-year-old student of Green’s at the Ulster BOCES Career and Technical Center in the town of Esopus.
The investigation found Green secretly provided the student with a cell phone so they could communicate privately.

Green engaged in inappropriate conversations of a sexual nature with the student, the sheriff’s office said.
After he surrendered himself and was arrested and charged, Green was arraigned in the Town of Esopus Justice Court and was released on his own recognizance. He was ordered to return at a future date and time.
The sheriff’s office said this case remains open and the investigation is ongoing.
