United Way Seeking People For Mid-Hudson Volunteer Projects
The projects range from organizing donations to prepping Poughkeepsie Farm Project for growing season.
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — The United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region is organizing projects for National Volunteer Week.
The available projects include organizing the donations room at the United Way, working on the Krieger Elementary School garden, a community cleanup in Newburgh and preparing the Poughkeepsie Farm Project to get ready for growing season.
According to Yolene Prescott, AmeriCorps specialist at the United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region, National Volunteer Week is from April 16 through April 22.

She told Patch that volunteering is not just about giving back to the community.
“It’s also about gaining valuable experiences, making new connections and discovering your passions,” Prescott said.

She said it doesn’t matter whether you have a few hours or a few days to spare, there are countless ways to make a difference and help those in need.
“From helping out at a local shelter to tutoring students or cleaning up a park,” Prescott said, “every act of service counts.
