Victim Choked, Stabbed In Chest, Points Finger At Acquaintance: Police

WARWICK, NY — A disagreement turned violent, sending one man to the hospital and another behind bars, according to police.

The Town of Warwick Police Department says that on July 22, around 4:41 p.m., officers responded to Crescent Avenue, in the Village of Warwick, after receiving a report of a violent assault.

Once at the scene, officers spoke with the 38-year-old victim from Chester, who told police that he had been choked and stabbed in the chest during an altercation, and that he knew the suspect.

The victim was initially treated at the St. Anthony Community Hospital emergency room and then later taken to Westchester Medical Center with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police found the suspect, 39-year-old Dylan Begnoche, of Warwick, and took him into custody.

He was processed at the Town of Warwick Police Department and charged with felony second-degree assault, and misdemeanor obstruction of breathing.

Begnoche was arraigned and remanded to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bond or $250,000 partially secured bond.
