Video Of Man Making Child Step On LEGOS Leads To Arrest: Police

The man was arrested, charged, and released with a court date, according to the Ulster County Sheriff's Office.

ROSENDALE, NY — The Ulster County Sheriff's Office says that a Town of Rosendale man was arrested for endangering the welfare of a child.

On July 19, 2024, the Ulster County Sheriff's Office was notified of the possible abuse of a 12-year-old child.

Police said a criminal investigation found that in February 2024, 39-year-old Shane M. Beitl, of Rosendale, used his cellphone to record himself punishing a child by forcing the child to step on plastic LEGO blocks with only socks on, followed by him hitting the child several times.

On January 7, Beitl was arrested and charged with misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child. He was released with an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Rosendale Justice Court on January 21.
