Wappingers District Opts For Remote Learning
Students will transition to hybrid learning in October, though parents will have the ability to keep their children at home.

WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY — Schools in the Wappingers Central School District will be reopening classes remotely for the month of September. The district then plans to begin a phase-in model allowing students to enter school on a hybrid schedule during the month of October.
District officials made the announcement to the community in a posting in their website Tuesday.
During the transition from remote learning to hybrid instruction, parents will have a choice to continue having their children learning remotely.

In the district's reopening plan submitted to the state, officials said they could not allow for an in-person model, meaning 100 percent student attendance.
Reasons for ruling out total in-person classes included having to increase the bus fleet by about 40 percent, the need to have additional instructional space and social distancing constraints prohibiting maximum occupancy in almost all buildings.
