PLATTSBURGH, NY – An upstate New York woman faces a felony strangulation charge after police say she choked a nightclub bouncer unconscious after she mistakenly thought he had slapped her butt.

Surveillance video (watch it below) released by Plattsburg Police shows what happened inside Five1Eight nightclub around 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 20. Kierah Lagrave, who the AP reported is 5-foot-1 and 125 pounds, can be seen grabbing the bouncer from behind and wrapping her hands around his neck.

The bouncer and Lagrave, 22, fall to the floor about 10 seconds later. The bouncer told police he didn't fight back because he thought it was just a friend playing a joke, according to an NBC News report.

Police say the surveillance video shows it was Lagrave's friend and not the bouncer who had grabbed her butt. Lagrave was arrested on Oct. 25 and charged with second degree strangulation. She faces up to seven years in prison if convicted.

Lagrave says she has watched the video, but she claims it's "clear that the bouncer was on my right side where I was grabbed," she told the Daily Mail. "If my friend hit me, she would have hit my left side. Not grabbed my right."

Lagrave also criticized the police department in the Daily Mail report.

"People in this town have this mindset that men can do no wrong," she said. "The police were just trying to shame me. They never once listened to me."

Lagrave was released on her own recognizance following an arraignment at Plattsburgh City Court. She is due back in court Nov. 30.
