Workers Find Human Remains At Central Hudson Gas Line Excavation Site

The NYSP Forensic Identification Unit and the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation are looking for answers.

NEW WINDSOR, NY — Work crews excavating as part of a gas line project made a shocking discovery, according to New York State Police.

On Tuesday, at 1:39 p.m., state police from the Montgomery barracks responded to a report of human remains being found near Sloop Hill Road, in the Town of New Windsor.

The remains were discovered during an excavation conducted by Central Hudson as part of a gas line installation project. The Troop F Forensic Identification Unit and the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) in Montgomery are continuing the investigation.

The investigation is in its early stages, according to NYSP. There is no word yet on exactly how long the remains were there before being uncovered by workers.
