Woman Dead After Being Pushed Onto Tracks in Times Square: NYPD
The suspect was in custody Monday afternoon, the NYPD told Patch.

MIDTOWN, NY — A 49-year-old woman was killed by a 30-year-old woman after being pushed onto the tracks at the 42nd Street-Times Square subway station at 1:30 p.m., an NYPD spokesperson told Patch. The suspect, Melanie Liverpool from Queens, was taken into custody after the incident, the NYPD confirmed.
The New York Post took a photo of police taking Liverpool out of the station and into custody.
"About 5 minutes ago 20 police officers escorted her out," the Post quoted a witness. "She was… in mid twenties, her head was up — kinda proud of what she did."

The NYPD did not yet have the names of the suspect or victim, and knew no further details about their relationship, an NYPD spokesperson said Monday at 4:40 p.m.
The victim was pronounced dead on the scene, the NYPD said.

Shortly after the incident, swarms of firetrucks and ambulances surrounded the station, and police closed off the tracks.
The incident at 42nd Street caused delays for multiple subway lines Monday afternoon, the MTA announced. The southbound 2 line via 5th Avenue from 149 St. to Nevins St. and the southbound 1, and 3 lines were also delayed.
The FDNY responded to a report at 599 7th Ave. of a person possibly on the tracks, an FDNY spokesperson told Patch.
