Times Square Dumpster Fire Hurts 1, FDNY Says
The fire broke out in the loading dock of a Times Square skyscraper and spread up the building's compactor chute.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — Firefighters battled a dumpster fire in Times Square for two hours late Monday night into early Tuesday morning, an FDNY spokesman said.
The fire broke out in the loading dock of 4 Times Square, a 52-story office building on Broadway between West 42nd and 43rd streets, around 11:30 p.m., an FDNY spokesman said. The fire was upgraded to a two-alarm response around 12:30 a.m. when it spread to the building's compactor chute, which runs up to the tower's 49th floor, the spokesman said.
Firefighters had the blaze under control by 1:36, an FDNY spokesman said. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, the spokesman said.

One civilian suffered minor injuries and was transported to Lenox Hill hospital, an FDNY spokesman said.
