2-Alarm Fire At East Side Steakhouse, FDNY Says

More than 100 firefighters responded to the blaze in the restaurant, FDNY officials said.

MIDTOWN EAST, NY — A two-alarm fire started on Friday afternoon in a Midtown East steakhouse and spread to the second floor of the building, New York City Fire Department officials said.

According to the FDNY, the fire started at 1:21 p.m. Friday at Monterey Steakhouse, which is located at 37 East 50th St., near the corner of Madison Avenue.

Officials said the fire started on the first floor and spread to the walls of the second floor.

The FDNY told Patch that 106 firefighters responded to the blaze, and the fire was put under control by 5:05 p.m.

The FDNY said no injuries from the fire were reported. The FDNY is investigating the cause of the fire.
