2 Hell's Kitchen Pizza Shops Ranked Among NYC's Best

Two pizzerias in Hell's Kitchen, plus another nearby in Midtown, cracked TimeOut's new list of the best slices in New York City.

The list, published in TimeOut New York, ranks the 29 best pizzerias across the five boroughs, as judged by the magazine's "experts." Selections range from dollar slices to fancier pies.

HELL'S KITCHEN, NY — There's stiff competition for the title of New York's best pizza, but two pizza shops in Hell's Kitchen — and another not far away in Midtown — ranked near the top of a new citywide list.

The list, published in TimeOut New York, ranks the 29 best pizzerias across the five boroughs, as judged by the magazine's "experts." Selections range from dollar slices to fancier pies.

Coming in 11th on the list: Upside Pizza, a joint on the corner of West 39th Street and Eighth Avenue, right on the border of Hell's Kitchen.

With a design inspired by 1990s New York, Upside is described by TimeOut as "Midtown's coolest place to grab a slice." It highlights the "Falcowitz," a slice with white wine lemon cream sauce topped with fresh mozzarella and sauteed mushrooms.

Not far behind is Corner Slice, located on the corner of West 45th Street and 11th Avenue. This shop "could easily go unnoticed," since it sits within Gotham West Market, the magazine pointed out.

But it would be a shame to miss out on Corner Slice's grandma-style squares, which boast "exceptionally light crust" and garlicy sauce, TimeOut raves. (This is the second recent honor for chef Michael Bergemann's shop: in April, it was named one of the city's best pizzerias by Food & Wine magazine.)

Finally, Stone Bridge Pizza & Salad in Midtown East earned the 27th spot in TimeOut's list. The farm-to-table spot on East 41st Street near Bryant Park sources many of its ingredients from Stone Bridge's farm upstate.

The pizzerias that earned the top three spots in TimeOut's ranking were Di Fara Pizza in Midwood, Lucali in Carroll Gardens and Ops in Bushwick.
