2 Midtown Drivers Carjacked Within An Hour: Reports

Two cars were stolen in the heart of Midtown Thursday afternoon in apparently unrelated incidents, according to multiple reports.

The first car theft happened around 4:30 p.m. on West 55th Street and Broadway, when a man approached the driver of an Audi SUV, took out a taser, and demanded that the vehicle be handed over, according to the New York Post.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — Two drivers were carjacked in Midtown in apparently unrelated incidents Thursday afternoon, according to multiple reports.

The first car theft happened around 4:30 p.m. on West 55th Street and Broadway, when a man approached the driver of an Audi SUV, took out a taser, and demanded that the vehicle be handed over, according to the New York Post.

Video showed the man take control of the SUV, ram another car and speed away from an NYPD officer giving chase. The suspect abandoned the car near Columbus Circle, fled via the subway and remains at large, Fox5 reported.

Meanwhile, about 45 minutes later on West 36th Street near Seventh Avenue, another man armed with a boxcutter stole a black Infiniti with TLC plates, the Post reported. No arrests had been made in that case, and the location of the stolen vehicle was unclear.
