3 Seriously Injured After Taxi Driver Hits Midtown Building: Reports
Police said bystanders tried to lift the crashed taxi off two trapped women in Midtown on Monday afternoon, reports said.
MIDTOWN, MANHATTAN — Three people have serious injuries after a taxi cab driver jumped the curb in Midtown Manhattan on Monday afternoon and hit a building, local media and first responders report.
The cab driver hit a CitiBike rider at the intersection of 29th Street and Broadway, ABC7 reported, then came up onto the sidewalk. The cab hit several people, and two women were pinned against the vehicle, a New York Times report said.
Police said between 15 and 20 witnesses tried to lift the cab off of the women, local media reported.

Police believe the crash was an accident, according to the New York Times.
A New York Fire Department spokesperson told Patch that firefighters and EMS transported the badly wounded people to Bellevue Hospital. Three other people had injuries, but not serious ones, the FDNY said.

The crash happened around 1 p.m. at 1188 Broadway, FDNY said.
