5 Midtown Precincts Hosting 'National Night Out' Events

All five police precincts in Midtown and Hell's Kitchen are hosting free evening events with barbeque, live music, face painting and more.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — The NYPD's five precincts in Midtown and Hell's Kitchen are hosting free, family-friendly evening events next week as part of the "National Night Out."

The annual event, which aims to improve police-community relations and deter crime, will be held across the city on Tuesday from 5–8 p.m. This year marks a big return for the Night Out, which went on a pandemic hiatus last year.

Each Midtown precinct is putting on its own unique event. Here are the details for each one:

Midtown North Precinct (18th)

  • Location: Hell's Kitchen Park (10th Avenue between West 47th and 48th streets)
  • Activities: Hell's Kitchen photos presented by the Hell's Kitchen Generations Heritage Project; Live performance Balloon Art from Twisted Balloon; Live performance from local resident opera singer Steven Herring; Pick-up basketball with NYPD; NYPD bike registration information; Ryan Chelsea Health Center information table; Midtown Community Court information table; NY County District Attorney information table; And more
  • Refreshments: Pizza from the Times Square Alliance, ices from Maria's Ices Cart, Lemonade from Añejo NYC, and more

Midtown South Precinct (14th):

  • Location: McCaffey Park Playground (West 43rd Street between Eighth and Ninth avenues)
  • Activities: Music and giveaways courtesy of Z100, mobile COVID-19 vaccinations and testing, basketball games and crime prevention information
  • Refreshments: from Joe's Pizza, M&T Pretzels and Starbucks, and homemade Italian ices from Vito's Slices & Ices

17th Precinct:

  • Location: Dag Hammerskjold Plaza (East 47th Street between First and Second Avenues)
  • Activities: A "block party" featuring live jazz, funk and rock music by B.D. Lenz; carnival games for children; photo-ops with police vehicles; crime prevention information; and community organization giveaways
  • Refreshments: Food courtesy of Ali Baba Turkish Cuisine

10th Precinct:

  • Location: Fulton Houses (421 West 17th St., between Ninth and 10th Avenues)
  • Activities: Barbeque, water slide, bouncy house, face painting, crime prevention information

13th Precinct:

  • Location: Peter's Field-JHS 104 Playground (Second Avenue between East 20th and 21st streets)
  • Activities: Barbeque, DJs, caricaturists, refreshments, business and crime prevention information
