5 Midtown Restaurants Are Among Manhattan's 'Hottest': List
A new Eater rundown of Manhattan's hottest eateries names several in Midtown, including some that just recently opened.
MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — Five restaurants in Midtown have cracked an updated rundown of the hottest eateries in Manhattan — including a few that are new to the list.
The frequently updated compilation by Eater includes 15 Manhattan restaurants in its July edition. The latest list highlights restaurants with "a mix of outdoor seating, indoor dining, delivery, and takeout" that opened in recent months.

Joomak Banjum (312 Fifth Ave., near West 32nd Street)
- Described as a "buzzy new entrant" into Koreatown, this restaurant began as a popup and was founded by six alumni of The Modern, the Michelin-starred Midtown mainstay, Eater reports. It offers two tasting menus running at $85 and $125 each.
Tacos Güey (37 West 19th St., between Fifth and Sixth avenues)

- Located in the Flatiron District, Tacos Güey's specialties include its namesake tacos as well as ceviche. Highlights from its "summery escape of a menu" include fish tacos with salsa crudo rojo and scallop aguachile, Eater says.
Here are the new-ish spots that returned to Eater's list in July:
Iris (1740 Broadway, at West 57th Street)
- Iris is a Mediterranean restaurant by chef John Fraser with a focus on Greek and Turkish food.
Le Pavillion (One Vanderbilt Ave., on East 42nd Street)
- This enormous, 11,000-square-foot French restaurant by Daniel Boulud opened to great fanfare in May as the centerpiece of the new One Vanderbilt skyscraper.
Sona (36 East 20th St.)
- This Indian restaurant by executive chef Hari Nayak includes dishes from across the Indian subcontinent, from chicken biryani and fish curry to "masala-stuffed chicken wings," eater reports.
