MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — Subway service between Queens and Manhattan on the 7 line was suspended briefly Wednesday morning after a train broke down leaving Grand Central Terminal, according to MTA officials.

Train service between the boroughs was shut down for about 10 to 15 minutes shortly after 9 a.m., MTA officials said. Service was restored when the MTA managed to remove a train suffering "mechanical problems" from the tracks.

Extensive delays persisted after service was restored, MTA officials said.
