Didn't win the ticket lottery or drop $900 for Bruce Springsteen's show on Broadway? Catch it on Netflix in December.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — Bruce Springsteen's wildly popular Broadway show will be filmed for Netflix, the streaming service announced this week.

"Springsteen on Broadway" will debut as a special on Netflix on Dec. 18, which is the final night of the show's run at the Walter Kerr Theatre on West 48th Street. The Broadway show's run began in October of 2017 and was so popular that it was extended multiple times beyond its original February end date.

“We are thrilled to bring Bruce Springsteen -- a master storyteller, humanitarian and voice of the everyman -- to Netflix in this historic one man show," Ted Sarandos, Netflix's chief content officer, said in a statement. "This groundbreaking experience defies the boundaries of theater, concerts and film and will give our global audience an intimate look at one of the biggest cultural icons of our time."

Tickets to "Springsteen on Broadway" proved incredibly difficult to come by and the cheapest tickets on resale sites such as Stubhub are listed for as much as $900. When ticket sales first launched in the summer of 2017, many Springsteen fans were locked out of Ticketmaster's "verified fan" sale despite signing up for the promotion that aims to cut down on tickets appearing on the resale market.

The intimate "Springsteen On Broadway" received positive reviews from publications such as the New York Times and Rolling Stone. The show is based on Springsteen's autobiography "Born to Run," and blends storytelling with acoustic performances of some of the rocker's most iconic songs.

Springsteen's manager Jon Landau said that bringing the show to Netflix will allow fans from all over the world the chance to see the one-of-a-kind performance.

"The purpose of the film is to bring this incredibly intimate show to Bruce’s entire audience intact and complete," Landau said in a statement. "In addition to its many other virtues, Netflix has provided for a simultaneous worldwide release which is particularly important for our massive international audience."
