MIDTOWN, NY — A city Parks Department worker was caught red handed Thursday trying to swipe a man's cell phone in a Midtown playground, police said. Authorities busted cleaning worker David Alexander, 41, in McCaffrey Playground at West 43rd Street and Ninth Avenue just after 1 p.m. after a witness spotted Alexander grabbing a 37-year-old man's phone, police said. The phone was retrieved and returned to the victim, authorities said. Alexander is charged with petty larceny and criminal possession of stolen property, said officials.
