'Cookie Monster' Stabbed in Times Square While Playing Peacemaker: Report
The costumed characters got into a fight on Saturday, with "Cookie Monster" ending up in the hospital, police said.
MIDTOWN, NY — "Cookie Monster" took a trip to the emergency room on Saturday evening after trying to play peacemaker between a "Tuskegee Airman" and a "Native American" in Times Square.
The incident happened at about 6 p.m. on Saturday when the two Times Square costumed characters — a "Native American" and a "Tuskegee Airman" — got into a fight near 50th Street and Broadway, police said. According to the New York Post, the airman was offended by the Native American's racist outfit, though the NYPD could not confirm those details.
What police could confirm, however, was that when "Cookie Monster" tried to step in and mediate, the "pilot" pulled a knife out of his boot and stabbed "Cookie Monster" in the back. The "Sesame Street" character was identified by the Post as 25-year-old Christopher Ramos.

There was a similar incident in January 2015 when police initially reported "Winnie the Pooh" stabbed a man to death in a Midtown deli. It turned out that was a case of mistaken identity in the hangout for costumed characters, as the homeless man arrested for the crime did not turn out to be "Winnie the Pooh."
