DA, DOI Commissioner, Consular Host Construction Safety and Training Event

The event will provide workers with the chance to turn in fake OSHA cards without penalty and receive proper training.

NEW YORK COUNTY, NY - The Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance, Jr., Department of Investigation Commissioner Mark G. Peters, Ambassador Diego Gómez Pickering, Consul General of Mexico, and Belen Machuca, Consul General of Ecuador are partnering on an OSHA Card Exchange & Training Event.

The Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) provides training completion cards to workers who complete a 10-hour course on construction site safety. Such cards must be presented by all workers on major building projects in New York City. Currently, thousands of fake OSHA cards may be in circulation throughout the city. This event will provide workers with the opportunity to turn in fraudulent OSHA cards without penalty and receive proper training to be become certified cardholders.

The card exchange and training event will be held Monday, November 14, 2016, 4:30 p.m. at the Consulate General of Mexico in New York, 37 E. 39th Street, New York, NY 10016.

Attendees must R.S.V.P. by 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 14, 2016 to press@dany.nyc.gov with their name, email, phone number, and organization.
