Dim Sum Hotspot Tim Ho Wan Opens In Hell's Kitchen

Tim Ho Wan's new location on Ninth Avenue features two exclusive cocktails.

HELL'S KITCHEN, NY — Hell's Kitchen residents no longer have to trek downtown for Dim Sum. Internationally-renowned chain Tim Ho Wan opened its newest restaurant Monday on Ninth Avenue and West 44th Street, the company announced.

Business partners Mak Kwai Pui and Leung Fai Keung decided to expand Tim Ho Wan's footprint in Manhattan following the successful debut of an East Village restaurant in 2016, according to a press release.

“We received such positive feedback after our East Village opening, so it was only natural to open a second location in New York and continue to build our presence here,” Mak said in a statement.

Leung added that the business is looking forward to "sharing our dim sum with another part of the city."

The two co-founded Tim Ho Wan in Hong Kong in 2009. The restaurant earned a prestigious Michelin star in its first year of business, which catapulted the business into international prominence. Tim Ho Wan now has locations in locations such as China, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Japan.

The chefs at the new Hell's Kitchen location have been trained by Mak and Leung on preparing the restaurant's signature dishes such as baked pork buns, steamed shrimp dumplings, steamed rice rolls, sticky rice in lotus leaf and pan-fried turnip cakes. The location will also serve up two signature cocktails — the Pink Po Cocktail (rose wine with lychee juice) and Sangria Slush — that aren't available at any of Tim Ho Wan's other restaurants.
