Fire Breaks Out In Closed Midtown Bar, FDNY Says
The fire broke out around 2 p.m. and was under control in about 45 minutes.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — A small fire broke out Wednesday in a building that once housed a busy Midtown bar, an FDNY spokesman said.
The blaze broke out in the ductwork on the roof of 897 Second Ave., located between East 52nd and 53rd street, around 2:15 p.m., fire officials said. The fire spread to the roof as firefighters operated on scene, officials said.
Firefighters placed the scene under control around 2:45 p.m., fire officials said. Nobody was injured during the fire.

The mixed-use building on Second Avenue was once home to Turtle Bay Taver, which closed down after five people were stabbed after a barfight broke out in June.
