Fire Breaks Out In Hell's Kitchen Apartment Building

There were no reported injuries in Friday morning's fire, which broke out in a five-story building and took 100 firefighters to contain.

HELL'S KITCHEN, NY — A fire broke out in a Hell's Kitchen apartment building Friday morning, sending more than 100 firefighters to 10th Avenue in an effort to contain the blaze.

The fire broke out around 9:24 a.m. on the fourth floor of 696 10th Ave., a five-story building between West 48th and 49th streets that houses New York Sal's Pizza and On The Rocks bar on its ground floor.

There were no reported injuries, an FDNY spokesperson told Patch.

A total of 106 firefighters worked for 40 minutes to contain the blaze, stretching two hose lines. Firetrucks briefly blocked 10th Avenue during the emergency response.

The fire was brought under control at 10:06 a.m. The cause is under investigation, the FDNY said.
