Hell's Kitchen Suitcase Attacker Arrested, Police Say

A man is accused of punching a woman and the hitting her with a rolling suitcase.

HELL'S KITCHEN, NY — A man is facing charges in connection with a violent Hell's Kitchen assault where a rolling suitcase was used as a weapon, police said.

Michael Lee, 41, was arrested Wednesday night and charged with assault, harassment and criminal weapons possession, an NYPD spokesman said. The man is accused of attacking a 63-year-old woman who was walking on 10th Avenue and West 51st Street on New Year's Day.

Lee approached the woman on the street and knocked her to the ground with a punch, police said. When the woman was on the ground, he swung a rolling suitcase at her head, an NYPD spokesperson said.

The attacker continued to launch punches at the woman before eventually fleeing the scene, police said. Medics treated the woman for injuries to her face.

Police did not disclose a potential motive for the assault.
