Subway Problems At Hell's Kitchen Station Causes Train Delays: FDNY
Social media reports smoke and firefighters, but the MTA wouldn't give details of what happened early during Tuesday's commute.

HELL'S KITCHEN, NY — An incident has sent west side train traffic into chaos Tuesday morning, according to the MTA.
At just past 7 a.m., fire officials received reports of an explosion under a train at the 50th St station on Eighth Avenue, according to the FDNY.
While social media users report seeing smoke and fire personnel at the 50th St E. train station, the MTA described the situation as some sort of mechanical issue with the train but that there was no fire or explosion that occurred on the southbound tracks.

The investigation, according to the MTA and FDNY, is ongoing.
But what is clear is that this "incident" sent some New Yorkers straight to commuting hell, like one Twitter user who told the MTA that her 7 a.m. Astoria commute on the F train made it only one-and-a-half stops into Manhattan as of around 8:30 a.m.
