Midtown Dave & Buster's Killer Sentenced

The attack happened in front of the victim's family at the arcade.

MIDTOWN, NY — On Monday, a man was sentenced to 15 years in state prison for stabbing a man to death inside the Dave & Buster's arcade in Times Square in April 2022, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said.

According to Bragg, on April 30, 2022, Jesse Armstrong and Allen Stanford were with their families near the gift shop at the Dave & Buster's arcade on West 42nd Street when the two got into an argument after Stanford accidentally bumped into Armstrong's child around 10:40 p.m.

Then, the argument turned physical when Armstrong, 44, pulled out a knife and stabbed Stanford in the arm and chest, Bragg said.

Stanford, 39, was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, and Armstrong was arrested a few minutes later at the Times Square-42nd Street subway station, Bragg said.

Armstrong was convicted of one count of manslaughter in the first degree this November, Bragg said.

“Jesse Armstrong will serve a significant state prison term for viciously stabbing and killing Allen Stanford in a business establishment frequented by children and their families,” Bragg said.

“Mr. Stanford was a beloved father and friend, and my heart goes out to his loved ones as they continue to mourn his loss.”
