Lawyer Behind Racist Rant Kicked Out Of Midtown Office: Reports

Attorney Aaron Schlossberg's law practice is no longer welcome at his Madison Avenue office building.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — A Midtown-based lawyer is learning this week that racism doesn't make for good business. Attorney Aaron Schlossberg, identified as the man behind a now-viral outburst against Spanish-speaking employees of a Midtown cafe, has been kicked out of his Madison Avenue office building, according to reports.

The company leasing Schlossberg office space in 275 Madison Ave., located near East 42nd Street, has terminated its agreement with the lawyer, the New York Post reported. The lawyer had been renting space from a company called Corporate Suites, which operates business centers in seven Manhattan buildings.

"His actions are just not consistent with our community and rules and regulations … It’s totally contrary to everything we believe in as a company and personally," Corporate Suites president Hayim Grant told the Post.

The Mexican flag was being flown at the Midtown office complex Friday, NBC reporter Pablo Gutierrez tweeted.

The loss of office space might not be the only hit to Schlossberg's legal career. Congressman Adriano Espaillat, who represents parts of Harlem and Uptown Manhattan, announced Wednesday that his office filed a formal legal grievance against Schlossberg with the New York state's court system. The grievance is al being backed by Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr.

"The statements made by this attorney at a New York restaurant serves as further proof of the wave of intolerance that is running rampant across our country," Espaillat said in a statement.

The Midtown attorney became New York City's public enemy No. 1 when a video of him berating employees and customers at Midtown's Fresh Kitchen for conversing in Spanish went viral early Wednesday. A video of the outburst was posted to Facebook by a man named Edward Suazo, who said his wife and best friend recorded the hateful display.

"Your staff is speaking Spanish to customers when they should be speaking English," the man is seen telling a manager at the eatery.

When the manager tries to diffuse the situation by saying that sometimes his staff speaks Spanish to customers, the man begins pointing out people he heard speaking Spanish. Several customers eventually begin to heckle the man, which sets him off further.
As he appears to be leaving the business, the man turns around and claims that he's going to call ICE and get the workers deported.

"My guess is they're not documented, so my next call is to ICE to have each one of them kicked out of my country," the man says. "They have the balls to come here and live off of my money? I pay for their welfare, I pay for their ability to be here. The least they could do, the least they could do is speak English."

Schlossberg was last seen sprinting away from news cameras on a Manhattan street.
