Machete-Wielding Attacker Stabs Man In Midtown, Police Say

The man was stabbed Thursday morning near East 31st Street and Madison Avenue.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — Police are hunting down a suspect they say stabbed a man with a machete in Midtown Manhattan before hopping into a getaway car, an NYPD spokeswoman said.

Officer responded to reports of a person stabbed at East 31st Street and Madison Avenue just after 9:15 a.m. Thursday, police said. Police searched the area for an unknown man in his 30s who was seen getting into the passenger seat of a gray Honda with Pennsylvania plates, an NYPD spokeswoman said.

The man who was attacked is expected to survive his injuries, police said. An NYPD spokeswoman could not provide details about the extent of the injuries or where the man was treated.

No arrests have been made in connection to the stabbing and the NYPD investigation is ongoing, police said.
