Macy's To Close All NYC Stores Amid Coronavirus Outbreak
All Macy's and Bloomingdale's stores will be closed until at least March 31, company officials announced Tuesday.

NEW YORK, NY — Retail giant Macy's, which has its flagship location in Midtown's Herald Square, will close all of its stores through the end of March in response to the growing new coronavirus crisis.
Closures at all Macy's, Bloomingdale's, Bluemercury, Macy’s Backstage, Bloomingdales the Outlet and Market by Macy’s stores will go into effect at the end of business Tuesday. The stores will be closed until at least March 31.
“The health and safety of our customers, colleagues and communities is our utmost priority. As a result of the recent COVID-19 developments, we have decided to temporarily close our stores,” said Jeff Gennette, the chairman and chief executive officer of Macy’s, Inc., in a statement released Tuesday. “We will work with government and health officials to assess when we will reopen our stores and safely bring our colleagues back to work.”

All Macy's brands will continue to offer customers the ability to shop for products online.
New York City locations for Macy's include its Herald Square flagship, a Fulton Mall location in Downtown Brooklyn, a Kings Plaza store and stores in the Elmhurt and Flushing neighborhoods of Queens. Bloomingdale's operates its flagship store on East 59th Street and has locations in SoHo and an outlet on the Upper West Side.
