Man Beaten Twice In Midtown By 5 Subway Phone Thieves: NYPD
A group of five men stole a man's phone and then beat him mercilessly twice on Sunday, police said. One of the attackers was arrested.

MIDTOWN, NY — A man was beaten twice by a group of five after they stole the man's phone on a Midtown subway, police said.
While four suspects are still at large, officers managed to arrest one member of the group during one of the attacks, according to police.
Jhonni Diaz, 2o, of Irvington, NJ, was arrested and charged with robbery, gang assault, criminal mischief, possession of stolen property and resisting arrest, officials said.

On Sunday, Oct. 29, a 28-year-old man was on an uptown subway train entering the 57th Street-Seventh Avenue station when a group of five people acting together stole his phone, police said.
When the man confronted the group, he was punched and kicked multiple times by the gang of five, officials said.

Despite the beating, the victim chased the group, following them to the street where he was again met with blows from the fighting group of five, police said.
Officers rushing to respond to the attack were able to cuff Diaz, but the other four remain at large, according to the NYPD.
Police released images of four people they believe are connected to the incident.
