Man Dies After Falling On Subway Tracks In Penn Station: Officials

A man fell to his death on the train tracks early Tuesday morning, officials said.

MIDTOWN, NY — A man died after falling to the tracks inside Penn Station early Tuesday morning, officials said.

The man, who was described as being in his early 50s, fell onto the south bound 1/2 train tracks at around 1:40 a.m., according to officials.

First responders declared the unidentified man dead at the scene, said FDNY officials.

At 2 a.m., the MTA alerted riders to an injured person on the tracks and that early morning service would be disrupted.

Police said that power was cut to the tracks shortly afterwards, and added that the man was not struck by a train.
