Man Dies After SUV Driver Smashes Ambulance In Midtown: Reports

A man who was suffering from a heart attack died after an out-of-control driver crashed into the ambulance transporting him, reports say.

MIDTOWN, NY — A man suffering from a heart attack died after the the ambulance rushing him to the hospital was struck by another car, according to officials and reports.

The crash happened sometime around 5 a.m. on Sunday on West 41st Street and 10th Avenue, according to officials, at at least four people suffered minor injuries in addition to the critical patient, a FDNY spokesperson said.

As the ambulance rushed the 59-year-old victim to the hospital, a driver behind the wheel of a Dodge Durango T-boned the emergency vehicle at the intersection, according to the Daily News.

While another ambulance hurried to bring the heart-attack patient to Mount Sinai West, he soon died afterwards, the Daily News reported.

Police sources told the Daily News that it was not clear if the crash played a role in the victim's death.
