Man Fires Gun At Bicycle Rider In Midtown: Police

MIDTOWN, NY — A man fired off a gun in Midtown early Tuesday morning, injuring a delivery van driver, police said.

At about 1:40 a.m. on Tuesday, an armed man tried to shoot another man riding a bicycle near West 36th Street and Seventh Avenue, officials said.

The bullet missed the biker, who immediately fled the scene, but hit an occupied delivery van, cops said.

While the bullet didn't strike anyone, the driver inside the van was injured by a shattering glass window, officials said.

First responders rushed the driver to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition, where he was treated for glass cuts to his face, police said.

No other injuries were reported, according to a NYPD spokesperson.

Officials said that the gunman fled west on West 36th Street on foot and had no other information to provide regarding the suspect at the time.
