Man Impersonating A Corrections Officer Robs Midtown Rite Aid

The thief said, "I have a gun, I am a corrections officer" before he fled the store with $250 worth of watches.

MIDTOWN, NY — A thief who impersonated a corrections officer robbed a Midtown pharmacy of $250 worth of watches on June 25, police said Tuesday.

The man grabbed 25 watches off the shelves of a Rite Aid at West 50 near Eighth Avenue at 5:15 a.m. and shoved the ill-gotten gains up his shirt. As he tried to leave, a store employee confronted the man and asked the thief to lift his shirt. He refused and stated, "I have a gun, I am a corrections officer."

The man fled south on Eighth Avenue twenty-five watches totaling $250 dollars. Police described the man as five-foot-eleven, 170 pounds last seen wearing a Yankees baseball cap, a gray suit jacket over a blue shirt, black pants and white sneakers.
