Man Killed In West Side Highway Crash Near Hell's Kitchen
A 58-year-old driver died days after his SUV was hit on a Hell's Kitchen's stretch of the West Side Highway, police said.

HELL'S KITCHEN, NY — A man has died days after his SUV was hit by another vehicle on the West Side Highway in Hell's Kitchen, authorities said.
Thomas Dunlea, 58, a resident of Westchester County, died Sunday — nearly two weeks after the Dec. 29 crash at the intersection of the West Side Highway and West 50th Street.
Around 4:20 a.m. that morning, Dunlea was driving downtown along the highway in his Hyundai SUV when his car was struck by the driver of a black Mercedes-Benz sedan.

Police found Dunlea unconscious and unresponsive, lying in the roadway with trauma to the head. He was rushed to Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he died Sunday.
Authorities did not specify how the crash happened, but said it is still being investigated by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad.

At least 18 people have been injured in 16 crashes at the same intersection since 2011, according to city data. The casualties included 17 drivers and one pedestrian.
