Man Rapes Tourist On Subway Platform After Midtown Encounter: Police

A man cornered a 21-year-old woman in a subway station after she arrived on a Greyhound bus, then raped her on a platform, police said.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — A man cornered a tourist in a Midtown subway station, then took her to multiple different stations before raping her on a platform, police said Thursday as they released a sketch of the suspect.

The 21-year-old victim had taken a Greyhound bus from St. Louis when she encountered the assailant around 3 a.m. on Sept. 1, inside the 42nd Street-Port Authority Bus Terminal station, police said.

The man then took the woman on an "excursion" to multiple subway stations, according to an NYPD spokesperson, who could not name any of the stations.

At the final, unidentified station, the man took the woman to the end of a platform, toward the tunnel, and raped her, police said.

The woman was taken to Bellevue Hospital, police said.

Police shared a sketch of the suspect, whom they described as a dark-skinned man with facial hair and a scar on his forehead, last seen wearing burgundy-and-gold shorts and black-and-white Crocs shoes.
