Man Robbed During Stay At Midtown Hotel, Police Say

The hotel guest woke up to find his wallet and watch missing, police said.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — The NYPD is trying to identify a man who robbed a guest at a Times Square hotel as the man slept, police said.

A 40-year-old man staying at MOXY NYC Times Square — a Marriott hotel — woke up on Thursday, May 17 to find that he had been robbed overnight, police said. The man's watch and wallet, which contained credit cards and about $150 in cash, were swiped from the room's counter overnight, police said.

Later that day a man used the victim's credit card at a Midtown Manhattan Footaction store, located on West 34th Street between Seventh and Eighth avenues, to buy $1,024 of merchandise, police said.

The suspect is described as a man last seen wearing a black and gold baseball cap with the letter "B" on front, a multi-color jacket and black jeans. Police released a photo of the man (seen above) that was taken at the Midtown Footaction store.
