Man Who Attacked 72-Year-Old in Midtown Still on the Loose

He intervened when the man attacked his wife, the NYPD said.

MIDTOWN, NY — Cops said Monday they were still looking for a man who attacked a 68-year-old woman on the night of Thursday, Oct. 20 as she got into a cab and her 72-year-old husband when he tried to intervene.

The couple was getting into a cab at East 46th Street and Third Avenue at 10:20 p.m. when a man came up and grabbed the woman's shoulder, the NYPD said. When her husband pulled the man's arm away, the attacker then punched the 72-year-old man repeatedly in the head and stomach, sending him to the ground and striking him in the face, the NYPD said.

The man suffered a broken nose, broken thumb and broken finger from the incident, according to the NYPD.

The attacker is described as a 50-year-old man with gray hair and a goatee. The NYPD released a surveillance photo of him and are asking the public for any tips on the attack.
