Hemant Mathur previously helmed the Michelin-star winning restaurants Tulsi and Devi.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — A chef behind two Michelin-star winning restaurants is opening his newest eatery in Midtown Manhattan on Friday.
Hemant Mathur's is opening Saar Indian Bistro on West 51st Street between Broadway and Eighth Avenue with his wife, the pastry chef Surbhi Sahni, Eater New York first reported. The restaurant will specialize in Indian cuisine but will incorporate British, Persian and Jewish dishes in the menu, according to the report.
Mathur has long been regarded as one of the city's best Indian chefs. He previously helmed two Michelin-star winning restaurants — Tulsi and Devi — which have since closed.

"Our goal is to show how food has evolved in India over the past 100 years, serving the dishes exactly as they are prepared and eaten at home today," Sahni said in a statement acquired by Eater.
The 2,400-square-foot restaurant will seat 57 diners, according to the report.
