2022 NYC Sikh, Persian Day Parades: Street Closures, Locations

Two parades will leave a swath of Midtown off-limits to drivers this weekend — along with a slew of Earth Day closures. Here's the list.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — A pair of festivals and parades will leave swaths of Midtown off-limits to vehicles this weekend.

The Sikh Day Parade, starting around noon on Saturday, and the Persian Day Parade on Sunday will result in street closures around the Flatiron area and Midtown East. Here's the list, via the NYPD:

  • 36th Street to 38th streets between 5th Avenue and Park Avenue: closed for formations
  • Madison Avenue between 27th-38th streets: closed as parade route
  • East 27th Street between Fifth Avenue and Park Avenue South: closed for dispersal
  • Madison Avenue between 24th-26th streets; 26th Street between Madison-Park avenues: closed for festivals

The NYPD did not specify a timeline for the closures.

The Sikh Day Parade will run along East 38th Street between Park and Fifth avenues until around 5 p.m. Saturday, according to a city event page.

The Persian Parade, meanwhile, is free and open to the public, kicking off at 11 a.m. Sunday on Madison Avenue and East 39th Street. It will continue down the avenue and finish at Madison Square Park.

Meanwhile, a slew of streets across the city will be opened up to pedestrians and cyclists — and closed to drivers — on Saturday, for a car-free Earth Day.
